The actress Maria de Vasconcelos is succeeding in Germany with the show “The Little Lambs” or “Die kleinen Lämmer”. The show is suitable for 6-month to 3-year olds and it´s often sold out.

Maria de Vasconcelos a Portuguese actress living in Germany found an opportunity and took it. She has been a great success in Berlin with her show “The Little Lambs” for 6-month to 3-year olds babies. Most of the Family´s presentations are often sold out.

“I quickly realized that there was no Theatre shows for Babies in Berlin. I also had luck because the show got viral in the social networks” explained the actress to the news agency Lusa.

Besides the shows for families, Maria de Vasconcelos presents the show daily in several kindergartens of the German capital where she lives for about two years.

During the show at the kindergarten “Kita Jurella Am Park”, in Berlin, the children sat on the floor and they were curious and calm for more than 30 minutes. They closely followed the performer creating a landscape with what she took out of her two suitcases and providing moments of interactivity.

“I loved it because she uses very simple materials as cloths that came alive through the movement. I also enjoyed the sound track throughout the show. It´s very impressive how she kept the children so calm, although they are so young” said the kindergarten´s teacher Katrin Beier.

“The concept of being quietly sit down watching something is totally new for them. The fact that the children remain naturally sit, observing and playing with me when there´s some interaction and then going back to their sits to watch the rest of the play, just that is a big conquer and I the greatest thing is that I don´t have to ask them or to explain anything because everything happens through the theatrical game.” Explained the actress to the news agency Lusa.

The actress also believes that the theatre for babies helps to create cultural habits since an early age encouraging the children’s cognitive and sensorial perception and stimulating their sensibility and imagination. It also helps to build a state of calmness, joy and tranquillity. “They discover how nice it can be to remain calm and peaceful” she explained.

The show is about the simplicity of daily life going through activities that the babies recognise “eating, sleeping, the water, calm and melodic sounds and universal words as Mama and Papa. The babies can identify themselves with this simple actions and that´s how I get their attention” said Maria de Vasconcelos.

On the following Sunday the play will be presented for families in Berlin and on the 5th and 6th of December 2015 the play will be presented in Lisbon, at the Puppets Museum. The shows are already sold out.

Maria de Vasconcelos is already working in a new show called “Manuel”. The premiere will happen in 2016. “It´s a tribute to the Portuguese rurality, the environment of my childhood. A tribute to my parent’s villages in Trás-os-Montes and Minho” revealed the actress.
